Born in Jember, East Java (1993), Condro Priyoaji pursued fine arts at the Bandung Institute of Technology, Bandung. His work revolves around the theme of shadows, capturing their essence through subtle paintings and three dimensional works with nuanced techniques. Rather than relying on black paint to create dark figures, Priyoaji masterfully blends a spectrum of colors to form rich, shadowy tones that define his compositions. He reflects on this technique with a philosophical manner: “Shadows emerge from a composition of colors, not just black. Likewise, if dark shadows represent memories of the past, they are composed of a colorful spectrum of events.”
Condro Piryoaji has exhibited in a number of exhibitions including ‘Antumbra’ at ISA Art Gallery, Jakarta (2022), ‘Common Beauty, Favorite View #2’ at Non Frasa, Bali (2022) and ‘Lamaran’ at Artjog, Jogja National Museum in Yogyakarta (2023). He has also been awarded the Young Artist Award (YAA) at Artjog 2023.
